There are so many varieties of cocktails available today, that it is impossible to keep track of them. But a few cocktails have stood the test of time, for good reason. So here is a list of most common and popular cocktails, to be shared between friends and family.

The daiquiri is a family of cocktails whose main ingredients are rum, lime juice, and sweetener (usually sugar), with the most popular being a Strawberry Daiquiri. It is usually served without ice (straight up) or blended with ice (frozen)


  • 6 cups of ice
  • 4-8 tablespoons of sugar
  • 120g of fresh strawberries
  • 65ml of lime juice
  • 120ml lemon juice
  • 180ml of rum


Combine all ingredients and blend until smooth. Add strawberries wedges. Serves 8 or so people.

Caipirinha is a Brazilian cocktail, made with cachaça (sugarcane hard liquor), sugar, and lime. It is usually served with ice cubes or crushed ice.


  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • ½ lime
  • 75ml cachaça
  • 1 cup of ice cubes


Squeeze and drop in the lime and Add sugar. Crush the lime, lime juice and sugar with a muddler or spoon. Pour in the cachaca, stir and add plenty of ice. Add a lime wedge or slice of lime. Serves 1 person.

Mojito is a traditional Cuban cocktail made with white rum, sugar (traditionally sugar cane juice), lime juice, soda water, and. It is usually served with crushed ice and sparkling soda water.


  • Handful of mint leaves
  • ½ lime
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup of ice cubes
  • 50ml white rum
  • 120ml soda water


Use a muddler or spoon to crush the mint leaves, lime and sugar. Add ice to your liking. Pour the rum over the ice, and fill the glass with soda water. Add a lime wedge or slice of lime. Stir well! Serves 1 person.

The piña colada is a cocktail made with rum, coconut milk or cream and pineapple juice. It is usually served either blended (frozen) or shaken with ice (on the rocks)


  • 240ml coconut milk
  • 240ml pineapple juice
  • 120ml rum
  • 4 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 cup of ice cubes


Add all ingredients into a blender and blend until smooth or desired consistency. Pour into a glass with a slice of pineapple or lime wedge. Serves 4 persons.

A margarita is a cocktail consisting of tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. It is usually served shaken with ice (on the rocks), blended with ice (frozen margarita), or without ice (straight up) in a salt rimmed glass.


  • 60ml tequila
  • 45ml triple sec
  • 30ml lime juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 180ml orange liqueur
  • Ice, as desired

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice, tequila, triple sec, lime juice and shake well. Pour into a salt rimmed glass with a lime wedge. Serves 1 person
